Direct2lab — Business Development Specialist
Business Development Specialist
Help launch our innovative lab-supplies Kiosk Program in the U.S. while guiding customers toward a modern, efficient e‑shop purchasing experience.
About the Role
Direct2Lab is expanding into the U.S. market with an innovative kiosk program that provides biotech and life science labs with convenient access to essential supplies. At the same time, we are driving digital adoption through our online e‑shop to help labs streamline procurement, reduce administrative burden, and improve efficiency.
We are seeking a Business Development Specialist who combines strong fundamentals in offline client development with the ability to guide customers toward digital purchasing. This role requires frequent engagement with lab owners, research park administrators, and procurement teams. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building relationships face‑to‑face and advising clients on how to integrate digital workflows into their purchasing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Development: Identify, approach, and convert prospective biotech and life science customers through site visits, networking within research parks, and participation in industry events.
- Sales Execution: Negotiate and secure agreements for kiosk services while driving adoption of the Direct2Lab e‑shop as the preferred ordering platform.
- Account Management: Maintain strong client relationships through regular follow‑ups, addressing concerns, and ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
- Onboarding & Implementation: Manage the end‑to‑end onboarding process, including kiosk installation and e‑shop account setup, to ensure smooth client experience.
- Digital Adoption: Educate clients on the advantages of online ordering (efficiency, transparency, tracking) and design hybrid solutions where offline approval processes are necessary.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with U.S. operations and China HQ to align sales efforts with company goals, share client feedback, and refine the digital platform.
- Performance Tracking: Report regularly on business development KPIs (client acquisition, sales growth, contract success) as well as digital adoption KPIs (online order share, e‑shop activity).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; background in life sciences, business, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of B2B business development experience, ideally within biotech, life sciences, or laboratory supplies.
- Demonstrated track record of prospecting, negotiating, and closing new business.
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to understand client needs and propose tailored solutions.
- Familiarity with e‑commerce or digital procurement platforms; interest in promoting digital adoption within traditional industries.
- Adaptability to navigate client‑specific approval processes and procurement requirements.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred (to collaborate effectively with China HQ).
- Willingness to travel frequently to labs and research centers; flexibility for occasional evening calls with international teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary with performance‑based bonus.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Travel reimbursement.
- Professional development opportunities, including mentorship from senior leadership and exposure to international collaboration.
This role offers a unique opportunity to blend traditional business development with the advancement of digital procurement practices in the life sciences industry.
