These cell lines were developed using MCF-7, a human breast cancer cell line expressing estrogren, progesterone and glucocorticoid receptors. Flavopiridol is a cdk inhibitor used in human clinial trials, however, the cellular resistance mechanisms are not yet understood. This MCF-7 sub-cell line (FLV1000) is resistant to 1000 nM flavopiridol. Cells were selected during MF-7 cell exposure to increasing flavopiridol concentrations. ABCG2 expression expression levels were analyzed through northern analysis revealing high levels. Additionally, immunoblot analysis confimed ABCG2 protein presences in the FLV1000 cell line. The cell lines are suitable for drug discovery related research.
