This PTP possesses an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracellular catalytic domains, and thus represents a receptor-type PTP. The extracellular region contains a meprin-A5 antigen-PTP (MAM) domain, Ig-like and fibronectin type III-like repeats. This PTP was thought to play roles in cell-cell recognition and adhesion. Studies of the similar gene in mice suggested the role of this PTP in early neural development. The expression of this gene was reported.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eAssay Principle\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PTPRU in samples. An antibody specific for PTPRU has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPTPRU present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PTPRU is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PTPRU bound in the initial step.
