KDSR is a secreted protein that is weakly expressed in hematopoietic tissue. Furthermore, KDSR catalyzes the reduction of 3-ketodihydrosphingosine (KDS) to dihydrosphingosine (DHS). The putative active site residues of KDSR are found on the cytosolic side of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
