When we launched eBioHippo in 2018, our goal was straightforward: build a marketplace that truly serves research scientists — not just list products, but help researchers make better decisions. We wanted a platform that understood the difference between an antibody validated for Western blot and one validated for flow cytometry, that knew a 1012 vg/mL AAV titer matters, and that treated a CoA as a necessity rather than an afterthought.
Seven years on, that vision has grown sharper. We have processed over 500,000 products from more than 60 vetted vendors, built out 30+ RUO research services, and listened carefully to every frustrated email about missing documents and unclear specifications. Today, we are proud to share what we have built in response.
"A researcher should never have to guess whether a product has been used successfully in published science. That information should be one click away."
— eBioHippo founding vision, 2018Seven Years of Building Toward One Vision
The journey from a catalog site to a decision-support platform is not a single project — it is hundreds of small commitments that accumulate into something that actually changes how a researcher works. Here is where we have been, and where we are now.
A Navigation Built Around How Researchers Think
The most common frustration in reagent procurement is not finding a product — it is knowing where to start. A researcher planning a cytokine signaling experiment does not think in database categories; they think in experimental objectives, model systems, and detection methods.
Our new navigation architecture reflects that reality. Every top-level menu entry answers a specific research question:
Product browsing should reflect experimental workflow and researcher intent, not database taxonomy. A researcher looking for a viral delivery tool for optogenetics experiments should find it under "Neuroscience → Circuit Tracing" and "Gene Delivery Vectors → AAV by Application" — not buried in a flat catalog sort.
Product Pages That Carry Real Scientific Weight
Specifications matter. Sensitivity, cross-reactivity, lot-to-lot CV, titer method — these numbers directly affect experimental reproducibility and data quality. But specifications alone are not enough. A researcher making a purchasing decision needs to know what this product has been used for, how it behaves in their model system, and where it fits in a validated experimental workflow.
Every product on the new eBioHippo platform now carries enriched content across four knowledge layers:
Introducing the "Research Validated" Badge
One of the most time-consuming tasks in reagent selection is checking whether a product has been used in published science. Researchers search PubMed, check supplier citation lists, cross-reference lot numbers — a process that can take hours for a single purchasing decision.
We are introducing the Research Validated badge to solve this directly. Products carrying this badge have documented use in peer-reviewed research publications. When you see it, you know independent scientists have successfully used this product to generate publishable data.
This product has been used in peer-reviewed research publications. Detailed validation descriptions — including assay context, species, and publication reference — are being added to each validated product listing. Look for this badge in search results and on product pages when it matters most: before you commit to a new reagent or change your supplier.
We are actively expanding the Research Validated catalog. In the near future, each badge will link to a structured validation description — assay type, species model, cell line or tissue, and the publication reference — so you can evaluate relevance to your own experimental system before purchasing.
We will continue adding Research Validated annotations as a permanent, ongoing program. If you have used an eBioHippo product in published work, we welcome your citation — it helps the research community that comes after you.
Every Document, Found in Seconds
A Certificate of Analysis is not optional — it is the foundation of reproducible research. A Safety Data Sheet is a regulatory requirement. An Instruction for Use is the difference between a successful assay and a troubleshooting session. Yet these documents have historically been scattered, inconsistently labelled, or simply missing from product pages.
We have built a centralized Document Center to fix this. Every document eBioHippo holds for its catalog is now searchable in one place — by product name, catalog number, lot number, document type, or supplier.
Knowledge Infrastructure for Better Decisions
Reagent selection is ultimately a scientific decision, not a procurement one. Choosing between two IL-6 ELISA kits — or between AAV2 and AAV9 for a CNS gene therapy experiment — requires context that a product page alone cannot provide.
Our Resources & Insights hub is built to deliver that context. It is organized not by document type, but by what a researcher needs at each stage of experimental design:
The Help Center runs in parallel — a separate, structured knowledge base for ordering, documentation, compliance, and after-sales support. Unlike the Resources hub, which is science-first, the Help Center is process-first: it connects directly to our Supplier T&C Directory, Document Library, and customer service team.
Our Commitment Going Forward
This launch is a significant step, but it is not the end of the road. The new site is still under active development. Features that are on the roadmap include Research Validated citation descriptions, expanded search with cross-resource results (products, protocols, comparison guides, services in a single query), and personalized research area dashboards for returning customers.
"We are committed to building a platform where every purchasing decision a researcher makes is supported by the same quality of evidence they would expect from a collaborator."
— eBioHippo Scientific Team, 2026Behind the platform is a team of scientists. When a question cannot be answered by a specification table, a protocol, or a comparison guide, our dedicated scientist customer service team can engage directly — with knowledge of your research area, not a scripted response tree.
We are here because the research community trusted us with seven years of business. We take that seriously. Every feature on this roadmap — the validated badges, the enriched product pages, the document center, the comparison guides — exists because researchers told us, explicitly or through their behavior, that they needed better tools to do their science.
Thank you for growing with us. We are just getting started.
