Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Aldolase C/ALDOC Antibody Picoband® catalog # A05296-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Major keratinocyte cell envelope protein.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Nucleoplasm. Cytoplasm., tissue context: Expressed in testis and to a lesser degree in brain, ovary and placenta. Found in most tissues at low levels..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare ALDOC levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of ALDOC in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify ALDOC-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Aldolase C, fructose-bisphosphate (ALDOC, or ALDC), is an enzyme that, in humans, is encoded by the ALDOC gene on chromosome 17. This gene encodes a member of the class I fructose-biphosphate aldolase gene family. Expressed specifically in the hippocampus and Purkinje cells of the brain, the encoded protein is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the reversible aldol cleavage of fructose-1,6-biphosphate and fructose 1-phosphate to dihydroxyacetone phosphate and either glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate or glyceraldehyde, respectively.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Nucleoplasm. Cytoplasm.
- Tissue details: Expressed in testis and to a lesser degree in brain, ovary and placenta. Found in most tissues at low levels.
