Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-APPL/APPL1 Antibody Picoband® (monoclonal, 5G11) catalog # M02381.

Biological background

Biological context: ATP-citrate synthase is the primary enzyme responsible for the synthesis of cytosolic acetyl-CoA in many tissues. Has a central role in de novo lipid synthesis. In nervous tissue it may be involved in the biosynthesis of acetylcholine.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm., tissue context: Widely expressed. Highest level in placenta, liver, muscle and kidney..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare APPL1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of APPL1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify APPL1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: DCC-interacting protein 13-alpha (APPL1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the APPL1 gene. The APPL1 gene is mapped to 3q21.1-p13.3. It is said to contain 709 amino acids and share 54% amino acid identity with APPL2. APPL is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, heart, ovary, and pancreas, tissues in which AKT2 mRNA is abundant. It has been regarded as an adaptor that may tether inactive AKT2 to the PI3K in the cytoplasm and thereby may expedite recruitment of AKT2 and PI3K to the cell membrane upon mitogenic stimulation.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cytoplasm.
  • Tissue details: Widely expressed. Highest level in placenta, liver, muscle and kidney.
  • Research category: Cancer,Cancer Metabolism,Energy Metabolism,Energy Transfer Pathways,Integration Of Energy,Integration Of Energy Metabolism,Lipid Metabolism,Metabolic Signaling Pathway,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Pathways and Processes,Signal Transduction
