Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes voltage-dependent P/Q-type calcium channel subunit alpha-1A (gene CACNA1A) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA.
CACNA1A encodes the pore-forming alpha-1A subunit of P/Q-type (Cav2.1) voltage-gated calcium channels, which are concentrated at presynaptic terminals in the brain and cerebellum. These channels couple membrane depolarization to neurotransmitter release. Mutations cause episodic ataxia type 2, familial hemiplegic migraine type 1 and spinocerebellar ataxia type 6, so it is widely studied in neurology.
