Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets membrane cofactor protein (gene CD46) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for ICC/IF, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 43.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50–70 kDa.
CD46, or membrane cofactor protein, is a widely expressed complement regulator that serves as a cofactor for factor I in cleaving C3b and C4b on host cells. It protects self tissue from complement attack, also regulates T-cell responses, and is used as a receptor by measles virus and several other pathogens.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human HepG2 cells, human A549 cells, human RT4 cells, human Hacat cells, human A549-WT cells, human A549-CD46 KO cells, rat thymus tissue, rat spleen tissue, mouse thymus tissue, mouse spleen tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human colon cancer tissue, human lung cancer tissue, mouse testis tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HeLa cells, SiHa cells.

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed by all cells except erythrocytes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
