Product Overview
Clone 5B9E1 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that recognizes complement decay-accelerating factor (gene CD55) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 41.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 70–75 kDa.
CD55, or decay-accelerating factor (DAF), is a GPI-anchored complement regulator on blood and many other cells. It speeds the breakdown of C3 and C5 convertases, protecting host cells from complement damage, and its loss on red cells contributes to paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.

| IHC (paraffin sections) | 2–5 µg/mL (Human) |
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue, human HeLa cells, human PC-3 cells, human Caco-2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human cladder epithelial carcinoma tissue, human colorectal adenocarcinoma tissue, human endometrial cancer tissue, human laryngeal squamous cells carcinoma tissue, human placenta tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): SiHa cells.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): human intestinal cancer tissue.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CD55 fragment (Asp35–Lys347), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse ortholog: 49.1%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed on the plasma membranes of all cell types that are in intimate contact with plasma complement proteins. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
