Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects CD83 antigen in human samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 23.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 45 kDa.
CD83 is an immunoglobulin superfamily glycoprotein strongly upregulated on mature dendritic cells and also found on activated B and T cells. It is widely used as a dendritic cell maturation marker, and it helps regulate CD4+ T-cell selection in the thymus and the stability of MHC class II on the cell surface.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Daudi cells, human Jurkat cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): RT4 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CD83 fragment (Thr20–Glu144), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places CD83 antigen in the membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed by activated lymphocytes, Langerhans cells and activatd dendritic cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
