Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: BCL11A (Signal transducer and activator of transcription 4).
  • Antibody format: Monoclonal; clone ADFD-2; isotype Rabbit IgG.
  • Host: Rabbit.
  • Species reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat (confirm in your model system with appropriate controls).

This description is intended to help interpret the antibody design and the biological context of the target using the fields provided in the catalog record, alongside general experimental considerations.

Biological background

BCL11A (protein: T-cell surface glycoprotein CD4) is a commonly studied target in molecular and cellular biology. Functional context (as provided): Carries out a dual function: signal transduction and activation of transcription. Involved in IL12 signaling. Reported cellular localization context: Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Translocated into the nucleus in response to phosphorylation. Tissue expression notes (as provided): Ubiquitous. Expressed at high levels in testis.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Research context keywords from the source record include: DNA/RNA,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,RNA Processing.
  • Current studies often focus on connecting target abundance/localization to pathway perturbations across models, tissues, and cell states.
  • Quantitative and multiplexed assays (e.g., imaging + immunoblot panels) are commonly used to compare phenotypes across conditions and time-courses.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): assess relative target abundance across samples, treatments, or time-points.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): evaluate spatial distribution of target-positive staining in tissue architecture.
  • Immunofluorescence/ICC (IF/ICC): visualize subcellular localization patterns and cell-to-cell heterogeneity.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and compare shifts in marker distributions.

Workflow ideas (metafield): Validate BCL11A antibody specificity using KO/KD control samples (WB/IF/IHC as appropriate), Detect BCL11A expression by Western blot in cell or tissue lysates, Detect BCL11A in FFPE tissue sections by immunohistochemistry, Localize BCL11A by immunofluorescence/immunocytochemistry in cultured cells, Quantify BCL11A-positive cells by flow cytometry in single-cell suspensions

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms and post-translational modifications (PTMs) that may shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Apparent molecular weight may vary by sample type and processing (observed MW: 120 kDa; calculated MW: 85941 MW).
  • Control concepts: include appropriate negative controls (e.g., isotype, KO/KD samples) and orthogonal validation when feasible.

Additional product details (from the source record)

  • Molecular weight (observed): 120 kDa
  • Cellular localization (provided): Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Translocated into the nucleus in response to phosphorylation.
  • Tissue details (provided): Ubiquitous. Expressed at high levels in testis.

I have a question about product M00741, anti-Ctip1 Monoclonal antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
We do not advise storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free M00741 anti-Ctip1 Monoclonal antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
