Overview
This antibody is intended for detection of Cxcl5 (C-X-C motif chemokine 5) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.
Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-CXCL5 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9859. Tested in ELISA, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived rat CXCL5 recombinant protein (Position: A38-Q130). Rat CXCL5 shares 58.7% and 76.3% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with human and mouse CXCL5, respectively. (reported region: A38-Q130).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 14 kDa; calculated MW: 14263 MW
- Reactivity: Rat
- Applications: ELISA, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
C-X-C motif chemokine 5; C-X-C motif chemokine 5. C-X-C motif chemokine 5?or ENA-78 is a?protein?that in humans is encoded by the?CXCL5?gene. The protein encoded by this gene, CXCL5 is a small?cytokine?belonging to the CXC?chemokine?family. It is produced following stimulation of cells with the inflammatory cytokines?interleukin-1?or?tumor necrosis factor-alpha.?Expression of CXCL5 has also been observed ineosinophils, and can be inhibited with the type II?interferon?IFN-γ. This chemokine stimulates the chemotaxis of neutrophils possessing?angiogenic?properties. It elicits these effects by interacting with the cell surface?chemokine receptor?CXCR2.?The?gene?for CXCL5 is encoded on four?exons?and is located on human?chromosome 4?amongst several other CXC chemokine genes.?CXCL5 has been implicated in connective tissue remodelling.?Also, CXCL5 has been described to regulate neutrophil homeostasis. Functional note: May participate in the recruitment of inflammatory cells by injured or infected tissue. . Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: At least expressed in the lung and trachea.
Research relevance and current trends

- Cardiovascular: Researchers commonly examine how Cxcl5 (C-X-C motif chemokine 5) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
- Chemokines: Researchers commonly examine how Cxcl5 (C-X-C motif chemokine 5) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative Cxcl5 (C-X-C motif chemokine 5) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
