Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human DNA Polymerase lambda recombinant protein (Position: K307-N407). (reported region: K307-N407).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 70 kDa; calculated MW: 50408 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: ELISA, Flow Cytometry, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Protein C-ets-1; DNA polymerase lambda. DNA polymerase lambda, also known as POLL, is a protein found in eukaryotes. In humans, it is encoded by the POLLA gene. POLL has 5-prime-deoxyribose-5-phosphate lyase activity and strand-displacement synthesis activity on gapped DNA substrates, suggesting that POLL participates in short- and long-patch base excision repair. POLL is widely expressed, with abundant expression in pachytene spermatocytes of testis and in ovary. Functional note: DNA polymerase that functions in several pathways of DNA repair (PubMed:11457865, PubMed:19806195, PubMed:20693240). Involved in base excision repair (BER) responsible for repair of lesions that give rise to abasic (AP) sites in DNA (PubMed:11457865, PubMed:19806195). Also contributes to DNA double-strand break repair by non-homologous end joining and homologous recombination (PubMed:19806195, PubMed:20693240). Has both template-dependent and template-independent (terminal transferase) DNA polymerase activities (PubMed:10982892, PubMed:10887191, PubMed:12809503, PubMed:14627824, PubMed:15537631, PubMed:19806195). Has also a 5'-deoxyribose-5- phosphate lyase (dRP lyase) activity (PubMed:11457865, PubMed:19806195). Reported localization: Nucleus. Expression/tissue context: Expressed in a number of tissues. Abundant in testis.
Research relevance and current trends

- Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how POLL (Protein C-ets-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative POLL (Protein C-ets-1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
- ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
