The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminus of human DR4.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 50 kDa; calculated MW: 50089 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: IF, ICC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10A; Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10A. TNFRSF10A (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Subfamily Member 10A), also known as APO2, DR4 or TRAILR1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TNFRSF10A gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor is activated by tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TNFSF10/TRAIL), and thus transduces cell death signal and induces cell apoptosis. Studies with FADD-deficient mice suggested that FADD, a death domain containing adaptor protein, is required for the apoptosis mediated by this protein. Functional note: Receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TNFSF10/TRAIL. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. Promotes the activation of NF- kappa-B. . Reported localization: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Expression/tissue context: Widely expressed. High levels are found in spleen, peripheral blood leukocytes, small intestine and thymus, but also in K-562 erythroleukemia cells, MCF-7 breast carcinoma cells and activated T-cells.

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative TNFRSF10A (Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10A) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
