Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Ezrin/EZR Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01750-2.

Biological background

Biological context: Involved in pyrimidine base degradation. Catalyzes the reduction of uracil and thymine. Also involved the degradation of the chemotherapeutic drug 5-fluorouracil.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm., tissue context: Found in most tissues with greatest activity found in liver and peripheral blood mononuclear cells..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare EZR levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of EZR in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify EZR-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: Ezrin also known as cytovillin or villin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EZR gene. The cytoplasmic peripheral membrane protein encoded by this gene functions as a protein-tyrosine kinase substrate in microvilli. As a member of the ERM protein family, this protein serves as an intermediate between the plasma membrane and the actin cytoskeleton. This protein plays a key role in cell surface structure adhesion, migration and organization, and it has been implicated in various human cancers. A pseudogene located on chromosome 3 has been identified for this gene. Alternatively spliced variants have also been described for this gene.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cytoplasm.
  • Tissue details: Found in most tissues with greatest activity found in liver and peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
  • Research category: Amino Acid Metabolism,Amino Acids,Cancer,Energy Metabolism,Energy Transfer Pathways,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Pathways and Processes,Signal Transduction
