Product Overview
Clone 21F38 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes forkhead box protein L2 (gene FOXL2) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 38.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.
FOXL2 is a forkhead transcription factor essential for ovarian development and for maintaining ovarian granulosa cell identity; it represses the testis-promoting gene SOX9. FOXL2 mutations cause blepharophimosis–ptosis–epicanthus inversus syndrome, and a recurrent somatic mutation is characteristic of adult granulosa cell tumors.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places forkhead box protein L2 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): In addition to its expression in the developing eyelid, it is transcribed very early in somatic cells of the developing gonad (before sex determination) and its expression persists in the follicular cells of the adult ovary. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
