Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human IL7 recombinant protein (Position: D26-H177). Human IL7 shares 56.4% and 57% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat IL7, respectively. (reported region: D26-H177).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 75 kDa; calculated MW: 20187 MW
- Reactivity: Human
- Applications: ELISA, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Interleukin-7; Interleukin-7. IL-7, Interleukin 7, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL-7 gene. IL-7 a hematopoietic growth factor secreted by stromal cells in the red marrow and thymus. It is also produced by keratinocytes, dendritic cells, hepatocytes, neurons, and epithelial cells but is not produced by lymphocytes. By the combination of approaches, IL-7 is located on 8q12-q13. IL-7 is critical for early T-cell development and homeostasis of naive and memory CD8-positive T cells. It signals through the IL-7 receptor complex, which consists of the IL7R-alpha chain and the common IL2R-gamma chain is critical for early T-cell development and homeostasis of naive and memory CD8 -positive T cells. It signals through the IL-7 receptor complex, which consists of the IL7R-alpha chain and the common IL2R-gamma chain. Functional note: Hematopoietic growth factor capable of stimulating the proliferation of lymphoid progenitors. It is important for proliferation during certain stages of B-cell maturation. Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Widely expressed. Highest levels observed in fetal brain. In adult tissues, high levels in brain, liver and kidney, moderate levels in testis and adrenal gland and low levels in heart, lung, stomach, thymus, prostate and placenta. In the brain, highest expression in the hippocampus, high levels also detected in the cerebellum, olfactory bulb and optic nerve. In the central nervous system, lowest levels in the spinal cord. .
Research relevance and current trends

- Innate Immunity: Researchers commonly examine how IL7 (Interleukin-7) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative IL7 (Interleukin-7) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Family / similarity context: Belongs to the IL-7/IL-9 family.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
