Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of KCNH1 in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-KCNH1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01036-3. Tested in ELISA, Flow Cytometry, IF, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human KCNH1 recombinant protein (Position: F741-S989). (reported region: F741-S989).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 160 kDa; calculated MW: nan
  • Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: ELISA, Flow Cytometry, IF, ICC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 1. Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KCNH1 gene. Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily H. This member is a pore-forming (alpha) subunit of a voltage-gated non-inactivating delayed rectifier potassium channel. It is activated at the onset of myoblast differentiation. The gene is highly expressed in brain and in myoblasts. Overexpression of the gene may confer a growth advantage to cancer cells and favor tumor cell proliferation. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. Functional note: Pore-forming (alpha) subunit of a voltage-gated delayed rectifier potassium channel (PubMed:9738473, PubMed:11943152, PubMed:10880439, PubMed:22732247, PubMed:25556795, PubMed:27325704, PubMed:27005320, PubMed:27618660). Channel properties are modulated by subunit assembly (PubMed:11943152). Mediates IK (NI) current in myoblasts (PubMed:9738473). Involved in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, in particular adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) (PubMed:23881642). Reported localization: Cell membrane. Expression/tissue context: Highly expressed in brain and in myoblasts at the onset of fusion, but not in other tissues. Detected in HeLa (cervical carcinoma), SH-SY5Y (neuroblastoma) and MCF-7 (epithelial tumor) cells, but not in normal epithelial cells.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Neuroscience: Researchers commonly examine how KCNH1 relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Neurotransmission: Researchers commonly examine how KCNH1 relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Potassium Channels: Researchers commonly examine how KCNH1 relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative KCNH1 levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
