Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects low-density lipoprotein receptor (gene LDLR) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 95.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 140–160 kDa.
The LDL receptor (LDLR) is a cell surface receptor that binds apolipoprotein B- and E-containing lipoproteins, above all LDL, and carries them into cells by clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Hepatic LDLR is the main route for clearing LDL cholesterol from plasma, and LDLR mutations cause familial hypercholesterolemia. It is central to lipid metabolism and cardiovascular research, including studies of PCSK9.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1x1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): MCF-7 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human LDLR fragment (Ala705–Ala860), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places low-density lipoprotein receptor in the cell membrane, membrane, Golgi apparatus and early endosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
