The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human MPI recombinant protein (Position: A2-K99). Human MPI shares 88.8% and 86.7% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat MPI, respectively. (reported region: A2-K99).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 47 kDa; calculated MW: 46656 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: Flow Cytometry, IHC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase; Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase. Mannose-6 phosphate isomerase (MPI), alternately phosphomannose isomerase (PMI), is an enzyme which facilitates the interconversion of fructose 6-phosphate (F6P) and mannose-6-phosphate (M6P). It also plays a critical role in maintaining the supply of D-mannose derivatives, which are required for most glycosylation reactions. Mutations in the MPI gene were found in patients with carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome, type Ib. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. This MPI gene is mapped to 15q24.1. Functional note: Involved in the synthesis of the GDP-mannose and dolichol-phosphate-mannose required for a number of critical mannosyl transfer reactions. Reported localization: Cytoplasm . Expression/tissue context: Expressed in all tissues, but more abundant in heart, brain and skeletal muscle.
Research relevance and current trends

- Metabolic Signaling Pathways: Researchers commonly examine how MPI (Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative MPI (Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of MPI (Mannose-6-phosphate isomerase) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
- Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
