Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 (gene MECP2) in human, monkey, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and ELISA.
MeCP2 is a methyl-CpG-binding protein that is especially abundant in mature neurons. It binds methylated DNA and interacts with co-repressors and other chromatin factors to regulate gene expression. Loss-of-function mutations in MECP2 cause Rett syndrome and duplications cause MECP2 duplication syndrome, making it a central protein in neurodevelopmental research.

Recombinant human MECP2 fragment (Lys36–Gln437), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 95.8% and 96%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, monkey, mouse and rat. UniProt places methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Present in all adult somatic tissues tested.
