Product Overview
Clone CFC-19 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes protein S100-A8 (gene S100A8) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 10.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 11 kDa.
S100A8 (also called calgranulin A or MRP8) is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein that pairs with S100A9 to form calprotectin, which is abundant in neutrophils and monocytes. Inside cells it supports NADPH oxidase activation, and once released it acts as an alarmin with pro-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects, so it is a common inflammation marker.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HL-60 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt describes protein S100-A8 as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm and cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Calprotectin (S100A8/9) is predominantly expressed in myeloid cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
