Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-Musashi 1/Msi1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A05052-1. Tested in IF, IHC, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminus of human Musashi 1/Msi1, identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 39 kDa; calculated MW: 39125 MW
  • Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: IF, IHC, ICC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1; RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1. RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MSI1 gene. This gene encodes a protein containing two conserved tandem RNA recognition motifs. Similar proteins in other species function as RNA-binding proteins and play central roles in posttranscriptional gene regulation. Expression of this gene has been correlated with the grade of the malignancy and proliferative activity in gliomas and melanomas. A pseudogene for this gene is located on chromosome 11q13. Functional note: RNA binding protein that regulates the expression of target mRNAs at the translation level. Regulates expression of the NOTCH1 antagonist NUMB. Binds RNA containing the sequence 5'- GUUAGUUAGUUAGUU-3' and other sequences containing the pattern 5'- [GA]U (1-3)AGU-3'. May play a role in the proliferation and maintenance of stem cells in the central nervous system (By similarity). . Reported localization: Cytoplasm . Nucleus . Expression/tissue context: Detected in fetal kidney, brain, liver and lung, and in adult brain and pancreas. Detected in hepatoma cell lines. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Cell Type Marker: Researchers commonly examine how MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Neural Stem Cells: Researchers commonly examine how MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Neurogenesis: Researchers commonly examine how MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of MSI1 (RNA-binding protein Musashi homolog 1) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
