Key elements and design rationale
- Target: NQO2 — Ribosyldihydronicotinamide dehydrogenase [quinone]
- Antibody format: Host: Rabbit; Clonality: Monoclonal; Clone: Clone: FGA-14; Isotype: Rabbit IgG
- Species reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Molecular weight guidance: Observed: 21 kDa; Calculated: 25919 MW
Biological background
Protein function (datasheet): The enzyme apparently serves as a quinone reductase in connection with conjugation reactions of hydroquinones involved in detoxification pathways as well as in biosynthetic processes such as the vitamin K-dependent gamma-carboxylation of glutamate residues in prothrombin synthesis. .
Cellular localization (datasheet): Cytoplasm.
Tissue details (datasheet): In fetal tissues, highly expressed in brain, detectable in lung and liver, but not in kidney. In adult tissues, expressed ubiquitously in the brain, detectable in the heart, liver, spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary, small intestine and colon. The type A isoforms seem to be expressed predominantly in fetal brain whereas type B isoforms are expressed abundantly in both fetal and adult brain. .
Research relevance and current trends
- Commonly studied in contexts related to Cell Biology,Drug Metabolism,Energy Metabolism,Energy Transfer Pathways,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Pathways and Processes,Signal Transduction.
- Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
- Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).
Common research applications
- Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify target-positive populations in single-cell suspensions; pair with viability and isotype/FMO controls conceptually.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
- Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.
As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.
