Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects dynamin-like GTPase OPA1, mitochondrial in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 111.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 80–100 kDa.
OPA1 is a dynamin-related GTPase of the inner mitochondrial membrane that drives inner membrane fusion and shapes cristae. Membrane-anchored long forms are cleaved by OMA1 and YME1L into short soluble forms, and the balance between them controls fusion. OPA1 mutations cause dominant optic atrophy, and it is studied in mitochondrial dynamics.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.25 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Daudi cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human OPA1 fragment (Asp296–Gln562), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in retina. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
