Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of CDH3 (Proteinase-activated receptor 1) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-P-Cadherin-3 CDH3-Antibody Picoband® catalog # A03353-1. Tested in ELISA, Flow Cytometry, IF, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human P cadherin recombinant protein (Position: Q126-H336). (reported region: Q126-H336).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 120 kDa; calculated MW: nan
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: ELISA, Flow Cytometry, IF, ICC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Proteinase-activated receptor 1; cadherin 3, type 1, P-cadherin (placental). Cadherins, such as CDH3, are integral membrane glycoproteins responsible for calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Cadherin-3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CDH3 gene. This gene is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. This gene is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is involved in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. In addition, aberrant expression of this protein is observed in cervical adenocarcinomas. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congential hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy. Functional note: Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Reported localization: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Expression/tissue context: Expressed in some normal epithelial tissues and in some carcinoma cell lines.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Cadherins: Researchers commonly examine how CDH3 (Proteinase-activated receptor 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cell Adhesion: Researchers commonly examine how CDH3 (Proteinase-activated receptor 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cytoskeleton/ECM: Researchers commonly examine how CDH3 (Proteinase-activated receptor 1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative CDH3 (Proteinase-activated receptor 1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
