Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-P2Y6/P2RY6 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A10087-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Promotes the growth of epithelial cells. May stimulate the phosphorylation of EGFR and mitogen-activated protein kinases.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Membrane ; Single-pass type I membrane protein ., tissue context: Ubiquitous. Highly expressed in brain. ..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare P2RY6 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of P2RY6 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify P2RY6-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: P2Y purinoceptor 6 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the P2RY6 gene. The product of this gene belongs to the family of P2 receptors, which is activated by extracellular nucleotides and subdivided into P2X ligand-gated ion channels and P2Y G-protein coupled receptors. This family has several receptor subtypes with different pharmacological selectivity, which overlaps in some cases, for various adenosine and uridine nucleotides. This receptor, which is a G-protein coupled receptor, is responsive to UDP, partially responsive to UTP and ADP, and not responsive to ATP. It is proposed that this receptor mediates inflammatory responses. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Cellular localization: Membrane ; Single-pass type I membrane protein .
- Tissue details: Ubiquitous. Highly expressed in brain. .
