Biological background

Protein function (datasheet): Transcriptional activator; DNA-binding protein that specifically recognize the sequence 5'-YAAC[GT]G-3'. Plays an important role in the control of proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells.

Cellular localization (datasheet): Nucleus .

Tissue details (datasheet): Detected in B and T-lymphocytes. Isoform 1 and isoform 6 are detected in lung fibroblasts (at protein level). Ubiquitous. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Commonly studied in contexts related to Cancer,Cancer Susceptibility,2339,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Oncoproteins,Oncoproteins/Suppressors,Proto-Oncogenes,Transcription,Transcription Factors.
  • Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
  • Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).

Common research applications

  • Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Assess tissue distribution and cell-type patterns; interpret staining with appropriate negative controls and antigen context.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Visualize subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; consider fixation/permeabilization compatibility and controls.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
  • Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.

As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.

Our lab were happy with the WB result of your anti-Phospho-v-Myb + c-Myb (S11) Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. However we have been able to see positive staining in liver placenta nucleus using this antibody. Is that expected? Could you tell me where is MYB supposed to be expressed?
From literature, liver placenta does express MYB. Generally MYB expresses in nucleus. Regarding which tissues have MYB expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues: Erythroleukemia, Pubmed ID: 23186163 Liver, and Placenta, Pubmed ID: 14574404 Testis, Pubmed ID: 15489334
We are currently using anti-Phospho-v-Myb + c-Myb (S11) Rabbit Monoclonal antibody P00157 for human tissue, and we are satisfied with the IF results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human. Is it likely that the antibody can work on zebrafish tissues as well?
The anti-Phospho-v-Myb + c-Myb (S11) Rabbit Monoclonal antibody (P00157) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with zebrafish tissues, though there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in zebrafish you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
