Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-PLA2R/PLA2R1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04442-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Induces activation of NF-kappa-B and stimulates production of the proinflammatory chemokine IL-8. Proinflammatory cytokine favoring Th2-type immune responses.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Secreted., tissue context: Expressed at low levels in several tissues, including brain, kidney, lung, prostate, testis, spinal cord, adrenal gland, and trachea..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare PLA2R1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of PLA2R1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify PLA2R1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Secretory phospholipase A2 receptor is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PLA2R1 gene. This gene represents a phospholipase A2 receptor. The encoded protein likely exists as both a transmembrane form and a soluble form. The transmembrane receptor may play a role in clearance of phospholipase A2, thereby inhibiting its action. Polymorphisms at this locus have been associated with susceptibility to idiopathic membranous nephropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Secreted.
- Tissue details: Expressed at low levels in several tissues, including brain, kidney, lung, prostate, testis, spinal cord, adrenal gland, and trachea.
- Research category: Cytokines,Immunology,Innate Immunity,Interleukins
