Upon administration, sonepcizumab binds S1P, which may result in the inhibition of tumor angiogenesis. S1P is the extracellular ligand for the G protein-coupled lysophospholipid receptor EDG-1 (endothelial differentiation gene-1). |

Overview
Antibody against S1P/Sphingosine-1-phosphate (which may result in the inhibition of tumor angiogenesis. S1P is the extracellular ligand for the G protein-coupled lysophospholipid receptor EDG-1 (endothelial differentiation gene-1).) for research detection of protein expression and localization.
Target biology
S1P encodes an extracellular matrix (ECM) component or ECM-associated protein that supports tissue architecture and signaling through cell–matrix interactions. ECM proteins are studied in development, fibrosis, wound healing and tumor microenvironment remodeling.
Expected localization
Secreted/ECM-associated; often detected in extracellular space and matrix fractions.
Research context
This target is frequently studied in the context of Oncology & Angiogenesis research. Application suitability (e.g., ELISA) is indicated in the specifications; conditions should be optimized by titration. Species reactivity information is provided in the specifications (reported: General).
Recommended experimental notes
- For ELISA, ensure capture/detection antibody compatibility and run a standard curve; verify sample matrix effects with spike-and-recovery and dilution linearity.
Controls & interpretation
Where possible, confirm specificity using genetic perturbation (KO/KD/CRISPR), peptide competition (if applicable), or an orthogonal readout. Include a negative control sample expected to express low/none of S1P/Sphingosine-1-phosphate, and a positive control sample known to express S1P/Sphingosine-1-phosphate.
