Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-SCG10/STMN2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04729-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. Acts on the anterior body structures.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Nucleus..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare STMN2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of STMN2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify STMN2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Stathmin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STMN2 gene. This gene encodes a member of the stathmin family of phosphoproteins. Stathmin proteins function in microtubule dynamics and signal transduction. The encoded protein plays a regulatory role in neuronal growth and is also thought to be involved in osteogenesis. Reductions in the expression of this gene have been associated with Down's syndrome and Alzheimer's disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 6.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Nucleus.
- Research category: Developmental Families,Domain Families,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Transcription
