Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminus of human SFRS3, identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 19 kDa; calculated MW: 19330 MW
- Reactivity: Human
- Applications: Flow Cytometry, IF, ICC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 3; Serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 3. Splicing factor, arginine/serine-rich 3, also known as SRSF3, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SFRS3 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serine/ arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, which constitute part of the spliceosome. Each of these factors contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for binding RNA and an RS domain for binding other proteins. The RS domain is rich in serine and arginine residues and facilitates interaction between different SR splicing factors. In addition to being critical for mRNA splicing, the SR proteins have also been shown to be involved in mRNA export from the nucleus and in translation. Two transcript variants, one protein-coding and the other non-coding, have been found for this gene. Functional note: May be involved in RNA processing in relation with cellular proliferation and/or maturation. May function as export adapter involved in mRNA nuclear export such as of histone H2A. Binds mRNA which is thought to be transferred to the NXF1-NXT1 heterodimer for export (TAP/NXF1 pathway); enhances NXF1-NXT1 RNA- binding activity. RNA-binding is semi-sequence specific. . Reported localization: Nucleus . Cytoplasm . Expression/tissue context: Ubiquitously expressed.

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative SRSF3 (Serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 3) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
- Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Family / similarity context: Belongs to the splicing factor SR family.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
