Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 1A (gene SMC1A) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 143.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 150 kDa.
SMC1A is a core subunit of cohesin, a ring-shaped complex that holds sister chromatids together from DNA replication until anaphase. Cohesin also helps shape chromatin loops and supports DNA repair, and SMC1A is phosphorylated by ATM after DNA damage. Mutations cause a form of Cornelia de Lange syndrome.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human HeLa cells, human HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A549 cells.

Recombinant human SMC1A fragment (Lys59–Gln1233), expressed in E. coli.
