The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminus of human ZP1, different from the related mouse sequence by four amino acids, and from the related rat sequence by five amino acids.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 70 kDa, 100 kDa; calculated MW: 70049 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Rat
- Applications: WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Zona pellucida sperm-binding protein 1; Zona pellucida sperm-binding protein 1. Zona pellucida sperm-binding protein 1 (ZP1) is a protein that belopngs to the mammalian zona pellucida. The zona pellucida is an extracellular matrix that surrounds the oocyte and early embryo. It is composed primarily of three or four glycoproteins with various functions during fertilization and preimplantation development. Zp1 ensures the structural integrity of the zona pellucida. Mutations in this gene are a cause of oocyte maturation defect and infertility. And this gene is mapped to chromosome 11q12.2. Functional note: The mammalian zona pellucida, which mediates species- specific sperm binding, induction of the acrosome reaction and prevents post-fertilization polyspermy, is composed of three to four glycoproteins, ZP1, ZP2, ZP3, and ZP4. ZP1 ensures the structural integrity of the zona pellucida. Reported localization: Processed zona pellucida sperm-binding protein 1: Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix . The glycoproteinaceous translucent extracellular matrix that surrounds the mammalian oocyte is called zona pellucida. . Expression/tissue context: Oocytes.
