Overview

Ets-1 is the prototype member of a family of genes identified on the basis of homology to the v-Ets oncogene isolated from the E26 erythroblastosis virus. This family of genes currently includes Ets-1, Ets-2, Erg-1 3, Elk-1, Elf-1, Elf-5, NERF, PU.1, PEA3, ERM, FEV, ER8l, Fli-1, TEL, Spi-B, ESE-1, ESE-3A, Net, ABT1and ERF. Members of the Ets gene family exhibit varied patterns of tissue expression, and share a highly conserved carboxy-terminal domain containing a sequence related to the SV40 large T antigen nuclear localization signal sequence. This conserved domain is essential for Ets-1 binding to DNA and is likely to be responsible for the DNA binding activity of all members of the Ets gene family. Several of these proteins have been shown to recognize similar motifs in DNA that share a centrally located 5 element.

This anti-ELK1 antibody is supplied as Purified (Mouse, Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone PCRP-ELK1-1B9, Mouse IgG2a, Unconjugated) and is designed to support common target-detection workflows after the on-page specifications.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: ELK1
  • Format: Purified
  • Localization: Nucleus
  • Species reactivity: Human
  • Applications (listed): IP
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated
  • Clone and antibody class: Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone PCRP-ELK1-1B9, Mouse IgG2a

Because antibody performance can depend on epitope context, sample preparation, and biological state, interpret signals using appropriate controls and orthogonal evidence when possible.

Biological background

ELK1 is referenced in public gene/protein resources (e.g., UniProt and NCBI Gene), which provide curated names/synonyms, protein features, and pathway context. When designing assays, consider potential isoforms, post-translational modifications, and cell-type specific expression that may influence observed signal.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Profiling ELK1 expression across model systems, perturbations, and time points to support mechanistic hypotheses.
  • Combining antibody-based detection with multi-omics or imaging readouts to link ELK1 signal with phenotype.
  • Using well-matched controls (isotype controls, genetic perturbations, or independent reagents) to strengthen interpretation of target-associated signal.

Common research applications

  • IP

Use the listed applications as a starting point and tailor experimental design to your sample type and readout requirements.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity considerations: closely related family members, isoforms, or PTMs can affect apparent specificity; confirm with independent approaches when critical.
  • Controls: include negative controls and, when feasible, genetic or pharmacologic perturbations to support target attribution in your system.
  • Species and sample context: differences in sequence, expression, fixation, or extraction conditions can change signal behavior across models.

Customization & Add-ons: Can’t find the antibody you need—or require a custom format for your assay?
