Scientific Background
A tetraspan protein of the PMP22/EMP family. The encoded protein regulates cell membrane composition. It has been associated with various functions including endocytosis, cell signaling, cell proliferation, cell migration, cell adhesion, cell death, cholesterol homeostasis, urinary albumin excretion, and embryo implantation. It is known to negatively regulate caveolin-1, a scaffolding protein which is the main component of the caveolae plasma membrane invaginations found in most cell types. Through activation of PTK2 it positively regulates vascular endothelial growth factor A. It also modulates the function of specific integrin isomers in the plasma membrane.

Safety & Handling
Research use only
This protein was produced in Mammalian (HEK293). Mammalian expression enables human-like glycosylation, correct disulfide bond formation, and proper protein folding — all critical for proteins used in binding interaction studies (SPR/BLI) and antibody characterisation. For transmembrane proteins expressed as ectodomains or nanodisc preparations, the expression system directly affects binding conformation and assay performance.
The expressed amino acid region is specified in the protein specifications table. Cross-reference with the UniProt entry (P54851) to confirm the expressed region includes your domain of interest — receptor-binding domain, extracellular domain, or specific epitope — before ordering.
>95% purity by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie staining. A gel image showing the protein band is provided with each lot on the Certificate of Analysis. This high-purity specification is suitable for SPR/BLI kinetics measurements, ELISA standard curve development, and antibody epitope binding studies.
Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for reconstitution instructions for your specific lot. Storage: Store at -20°C to -80°C for 12 months in lyophilized form. After reconstitution, if not intended for use within a month, aliquot and store at -80°C (A Prepare single-use working aliquots after reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized protein is stable for 12 months at −80°C from the date of receipt.
