Scientific Background
Influenza A virus subtype H5 (H5Nx) is a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus responsible for multiple outbreaks in poultry and sporadic human infections with high case fatality rates. H5 hemagglutinin (HA) binds α2-3-linked sialic acid receptors and is the primary target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccines. Pseudovirus tools presenting H5 HA enable safe BSL-2 antibody neutralization assays without the need for live H5 virus work in BSL-3+ containment.
