Product Overview

Killer cell lectin-like receptor G1 (KLRG1) is the mouse homolog of the rat mast cell function-associated antigen (MAFA or 2F1-Ag). KLRG1 is a type II membrane glycoprotein that was first identified on the surface of rat mast cell line RBL-2H3. It is composed of a homodimer of glycosylated 30-38 kD subunits. Mouse and human homologs of KLRG1 are expressed by subsets of NK cells and lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells but not mast cells. KLRG1 is also expressed on subsets of CD8+ and CD4+ cells, including CD4+ and CD8+ effector/memory cells, potent regulatory CD4+ T cells. KLRG1 may be involved in regulating NK cell homeostasis. KLRG5 was found to recognize cadherins and thus inhibit immune responses by regulating the effector function and the developmental processes of NK and T cells.

Can this antibody be used for intracellular flow cytometry (ICFCM) as well as surface staining?

This antibody is validated for flow cytometry applications. For intracellular targets, fix and permeabilize cells using a validated fixation/permeabilization kit (e.g., BD Cytofix/Cytoperm or similar) before staining. For surface markers, stain live or fixed cells without permeabilization. Always include a matched isotype control (Syrian Hamster IgG, Syrian Hamster origin) at the same protein concentration as the test antibody to establish non-specific binding thresholds. Recommended starting dilution/concentration: see datasheet.

What species is this KLRG-1 antibody validated in, and will it work in my model organism?

This antibody has been experimentally validated in: Human, Mouse. Cross-reactivity with other species has not been systematically evaluated. If your sample species is not listed, assess immunogen sequence homology to your target species ortholog. The immunogen used is: "" — higher sequence identity between species increases the probability of cross-reactivity, but experimental validation with appropriate controls is necessary before drawing scientific conclusions.

What are the storage and stability requirements for this antibody?

This product can be stored at 2-8°C for 12 months. Please protected from prolonged exposure to light and do not freeze. Storage Buffer: Phosphate buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% stabilizer and 1% protein protectant.. To maintain antibody activity, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquot into single-use volumes before first freeze. If working with the antibody frequently, keep a working stock at 4°C for up to 4 weeks — add 0.02% sodium azide to the working stock as a bacteriostatic agent if azide is not already present in the buffer. Monitor performance against a validated positive control when transitioning between storage aliquots or lots.

What are the advantages of using a monoclonal antibody for KLRG-1 detection?

This monoclonal antibody (clone 2F1) provides highly consistent, epitope-specific recognition of KLRG-1, making it ideal for quantitative assays, multiplex panels, and studies requiring strict reproducibility across experiments and independent laboratories. Unlike polyclonal preparations, each production batch from a single hybridoma clone generates antibody with identical epitope specificity, affinity, and isotype — ensuring reliable signal comparison in longitudinal studies or multi-site collaborations. When citing this antibody in publications, include the clone designation (clone 2F1) to enable third-party reproducibility verification.
