Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human ADH1A recombinant protein (Position: K213-F375). Human ADH1A shares 87.1% and 82.8% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat ADH1A, respectively. (reported region: K213-F375).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 40 kDa; calculated MW: 39859 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: Flow Cytometry, IF, IHC, ICC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Alcohol dehydrogenase 1A; Alcohol dehydrogenase 1A. Alcohol dehydrogenase 1A is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADH1A gene. This gene encodes a member of the alcohol dehydrogenase family. The encoded protein is the alpha subunit of class I alcohol dehydrogenase, which consists of several homo- and heterodimers of alpha, beta and gamma subunits. Alcohol dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes. This gene is active in the liver in early fetal life but only weakly active in adult liver. And this gene is found in a cluster with six additional alcohol dehydrogenase genes, including those encoding the beta and gamma subunits, on the long arm of chromosome 4. Mutations in this gene may contribute to variation in certain personality traits and substance dependence. Functional note: Cleaves the vWF multimers in plasma into smaller forms thereby controlling vWF-mediated platelet thrombus formation. . Reported localization: Cytoplasm. Expression/tissue context: Plasma. Expressed primarily in liver. .

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative ADH1A (Alcohol dehydrogenase 1A) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of ADH1A (Alcohol dehydrogenase 1A) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
- IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
- Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
