This description is intended to help interpret the antibody design and the biological context of the target using the fields provided in the catalog record, alongside general experimental considerations.

Biological background

KRT19 (protein: Lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 2 (Lamp2)) is a commonly studied target in molecular and cellular biology. Functional context (as provided): Involved in the organization of myofibers. Together with KRT8, helps to link the contractile apparatus to dystrophin at the costameres of striated muscle. . Reported cellular localization context: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton . Cell projection . Tissue expression notes (as provided): Expressed in a defined zone of basal keratinocytes in the deep outer root sheath of hair follicles. Also observed in sweat gland and mammary gland ductal and secretory cells, bile ducts, gastrointestinal tract, bladder urothelium, oral epithelia, esophagus, ectocervical epithelium (at protein level). Expressed in epidermal basal cells, in nipple epidermis and a defined region of the hair follicle. Also seen in a subset of vascular wall cells in both the veins and artery of human umbilical cord, and in umbilical cord vascular smooth muscle. Observed in muscle fibers accumulating in the costameres of myoplasm at the sarcolemma in structures that contain dystrophin and spectrin. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Research context keywords from the source record include: Class I,Cytoskeleton,Cytoskeleton/ECM,Intermediate Filaments,Signal Transduction.
  • Current studies often focus on connecting target abundance/localization to pathway perturbations across models, tissues, and cell states.
  • Quantitative and multiplexed assays (e.g., imaging + immunoblot panels) are commonly used to compare phenotypes across conditions and time-courses.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): assess relative target abundance across samples, treatments, or time-points.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): evaluate spatial distribution of target-positive staining in tissue architecture.
  • Immunofluorescence/ICC (IF/ICC): visualize subcellular localization patterns and cell-to-cell heterogeneity.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and compare shifts in marker distributions.

Workflow ideas (metafield): Validate KRT19 antibody specificity using KO/KD control samples (WB/IF/IHC as appropriate), Detect KRT19 expression by Western blot in cell or tissue lysates, Detect KRT19 in FFPE tissue sections by immunohistochemistry, Localize KRT19 by immunofluorescence/immunocytochemistry in cultured cells, Quantify KRT19-positive cells by flow cytometry in single-cell suspensions

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms and post-translational modifications (PTMs) that may shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Apparent molecular weight may vary by sample type and processing (observed MW: 39 kDa; calculated MW: 44106 MW).
  • Control concepts: include appropriate negative controls (e.g., isotype, KO/KD samples) and orthogonal validation when feasible.

Can you help my question with product M02101-1, anti-Cytokeratin 19 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
We do not advise storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free M02101-1 anti-Cytokeratin 19 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
