Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (gene SLC1A3) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 59.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 60 kDa.
Excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1, SLC1A3; also called GLAST) is a sodium-coupled glutamate transporter expressed by astrocytes and radial glia. It is especially abundant in the cerebellum and retina, where it removes synaptic glutamate, and GLAST is commonly used as a marker of astrocytes and neural stem cells.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U937 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human EAAT1/SLC1A3 fragment (Gln34–Asp506), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places excitatory amino acid transporter 1 in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
