Overview
This antibody is intended for detection of SLC1A2 (Excitatory amino acid transporter 2) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.
Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-EAAT2/GLT-1/SLC1A2 Antibody catalog # RP1065. Tested in IF, IHC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: E.coli-derived human EAAT2 recombinant protein (Position: T461-K574). Human EAAT2 shares 96% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with both mouse and rat EAAT2. (reported region: T461-K574).
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 65 kDa; calculated MW: 62104 MW
- Reactivity: Mouse,Rat
- Applications: IF, IHC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Excitatory amino acid transporter 2; Excitatory amino acid transporter 2. SLC1A2 is also known as EAAT2 or GLT-1. This gene encodes a member of a family of solute transporter proteins. The membrane-bound protein is the principal transporter that clears the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate from the extracellular space at synapses in the central nervous system. Glutamate clearance is necessary for proper synaptic activation and to prevent neuronal damage from excessive activation of glutamate receptors. Mutations in and decreased expression of this protein are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified. Functional note: Transports L-glutamate and also L- and D-aspartate. Essential for terminating the postsynaptic action of glutamate by rapidly removing released glutamate from the synaptic cleft. Acts as a symport by cotransporting sodium. Reported localization: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative SLC1A2 (Excitatory amino acid transporter 2) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of SLC1A2 (Excitatory amino acid transporter 2) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
- IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Family / similarity context: Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Plasminogen subfamily.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
