Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects heme oxygenase 1 (gene HMOX1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 32.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 33 kDa.
Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1, HMOX1, also called HSP32) breaks down heme into biliverdin, ferrous iron and carbon monoxide. It is strongly induced by oxidative stress, heme and inflammation, and its products have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, so HO-1 is a widely used marker of cellular stress responses and cytoprotection.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human A549 cells, human 293T cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U2OS cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Heme Oxygenase 1/HMOX1 fragment (Glu19–Arg269), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places heme oxygenase 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at higher levels in renal cancer tissue than in normal tissue (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
