This description is intended to help interpret the antibody design and the biological context of the target using the fields provided in the catalog record, alongside general experimental considerations.

Biological background

SNAP25 (protein: Lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 2 (Lamp2)) is a commonly studied target in molecular and cellular biology. Functional context (as provided): t-SNARE involved in the molecular regulation of neurotransmitter release. May play an important role in the synaptic function of specific neuronal systems. Associates with proteins involved in vesicle docking and membrane fusion. Regulates plasma membrane recycling through its interaction with CENPF. Modulates the gating characteristics of the delayed rectifier voltage-dependent potassium channel KCNB1 in pancreatic beta cells. . Reported cellular localization context: Cytoplasm, perinuclear region . Cell membrane ; Lipid-anchor. Cell junction, synapse, synaptosome. Membrane association requires palmitoylation. Expressed throughout cytoplasm, concentrating at the perinuclear region. Colocalizes with KCNB1 at the cell membrane (By similarity). . Tissue expression notes (as provided): Neurons of the neocortex, hippocampus, piriform cortex, anterior thalamic nuclei, pontine nuclei, and granule cells of the cerebellum.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Research context keywords from the source record include: Cancer,Cancer Metabolism,Cell Type Marker,Energy Transfer Pathways,Integration Of Energy,Integration Of Energy Metabolism,Metabolic Signaling Pathway,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Neuron Marker,Neuroscience,Neurotransmission,Pathways and Processes,Protein Trafficking,Secretory Vesicles,Signal Transduction,Synapse Marker,Vesicle Transport.
  • Current studies often focus on connecting target abundance/localization to pathway perturbations across models, tissues, and cell states.
  • Quantitative and multiplexed assays (e.g., imaging + immunoblot panels) are commonly used to compare phenotypes across conditions and time-courses.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): assess relative target abundance across samples, treatments, or time-points.
  • Immunofluorescence/ICC (IF/ICC): visualize subcellular localization patterns and cell-to-cell heterogeneity.
  • Immunoprecipitation (IP): enrich target complexes for downstream immunoblot or interaction analyses.

Workflow ideas (metafield): Validate SNAP25 antibody specificity using KO/KD control samples (WB/IF/IHC as appropriate), Detect SNAP25 expression by Western blot in cell or tissue lysates, Localize SNAP25 by immunofluorescence/immunocytochemistry in cultured cells, Enrich SNAP25 by immunoprecipitation from lysates for downstream analysis

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms and post-translational modifications (PTMs) that may shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Apparent molecular weight may vary by sample type and processing (observed MW: 43 kDa; calculated MW: 23315 MW).
  • Control concepts: include appropriate negative controls (e.g., isotype, KO/KD samples) and orthogonal validation when feasible.

Additional product details (from the source record)

  • Molecular weight (observed): 43 kDa
  • Cellular localization (provided): Cytoplasm, perinuclear region . Cell membrane ; Lipid-anchor. Cell junction, synapse, synaptosome. Membrane association requires palmitoylation. I was wanting to use your anti-SNAP25 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody for WB for rat fetal brain temporal cortex on frozen tissues, but I want to know if it has been validated for this particular application. Has this antibody been validated and is this antibody a good choice for rat fetal brain temporal cortex identification?
As indicated on the product datasheet, M01625 anti-SNAP25 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody has been validated for IP, IF, WB on human, mouse, rat tissues. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in rat fetal brain temporal cortex in IHC-frozen, you can get your next antibody for free.
We are currently using anti-SNAP25 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody M01625 for human tissue, and we are well pleased with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse, rat. Is it true that the antibody can work on bovine tissues as well?
The anti-SNAP25 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody (M01625) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with bovine tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in bovine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
