Biological background

Protein function (datasheet): Destroys superoxide anion radicals which are normally produced within the cells and which are toxic to biological systems. .

Cellular localization (datasheet): Mitochondrion matrix.

Tissue details (datasheet): Widely expressed, especially in kidney, liver, lymph nodes and bone marrow. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Commonly studied in contexts related to Apoptosis,Cancer,Cancer Metabolism,Cardiovascular,Cell Biology,Cell Death,Metabolism,Metabolism Processes,Mitochondrial,Mitochondrial Markers,Mitochondrial Metabolism,Neurodegenerative Disease,Neurology Process,Neuroscience,Pathways and Processes,Redox Metabolism,Response To Hypoxia,Signal Transduction,Vasculature.
  • Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
  • Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).

Common research applications

  • Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Assess tissue distribution and cell-type patterns; interpret staining with appropriate negative controls and antigen context.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
  • Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.

As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.

My question regarding product M00349, anti-SOD2/Mnsod Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
We suggest not storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free M00349 anti-SOD2/Mnsod Rabbit Monoclonal antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
Is this M00349 anti-SOD2/Mnsod Rabbit Monoclonal antibody reactive to the isotypes of SOD2?
The immunogen of M00349 anti-SOD2/Mnsod Rabbit Monoclonal antibody is A synthesized peptide derived from human SOD2. Could you tell me which isotype you are interested in so I can help see if the immunogen is part of this isotype?
