Overview
This antibody is intended for detection of SP4 (Transcription factor Sp4) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.
Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-Transcription factor Sp4 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9558. Tested in WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human SP4, different from the related mouse sequence by one amino acid.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 82 kDa; calculated MW: 81985 MW
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Transcription factor Sp4; Transcription factor Sp4. SP4 (Sp4 transcription factor), also known as Transcription factor Sp4, MGC130008, MGC130009, SPR-1, HF1B, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SP4 gene. It is a multigene family of SP proteins. Northern blot analysis that SP4 is abundantly expressed as a 7.5-kb message in brain, but barely detectable in other human cell lines. SP4 is an activator protein like SP1. However, in contrast to SP1, SP4 is not able to act synergistically through adjacent binding sites. Functional note: Binds to GT and GC boxes promoters elements. Probable transcriptional activator. Reported localization: Nucleus. Expression/tissue context: Abundant in brain.
Research relevance and current trends
- Cancer: Researchers commonly examine how SP4 (Transcription factor Sp4) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
- Cell Cycle: Researchers commonly examine how SP4 (Transcription factor Sp4) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
- Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how SP4 (Transcription factor Sp4) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative SP4 (Transcription factor Sp4) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Family / similarity context: Belongs to the Sp1 C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
