KB-R7943 mesylate is a potent and selective inhibitor of the reverse mode of the Na+/Ca2+ exchanger, a key regulator of intracellular calcium homeostasis. In neuroscience, it is used to study calcium dynamics in neurons, especially under pathological conditions such as ischemia and excitotoxicity. By inhibiting calcium influx via the exchanger, KB-R7943 may reduce neuronal injury and has been explored for its neuroprotective potential in stroke and neurodegenerative disease models.
