Src I1 is a potent and competitive dual-site inhibitor of Src family kinases, including Src and Lck, as well as VEGFR2 and c-Fms. In neuroscience, Src I1 is used to study the role of Src kinases in synaptic signaling, neuroinflammation, and neuronal survival. Src signaling is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and ALS, where it contributes to excitotoxicity and glial activation. Src I1 is cell-permeable and has been shown to induce apoptosis, making it a useful compound for exploring kinase-targeted neuroprotective strategies.
