Product Overview
1 kb Plus DNA Ladder (1 kb plus Ladder DNA Marker) is composed of 13 DNA fragments with a length of 250 bp to 12,000 bp, dissolved in 1× Loading Buffer, and can be loaded directly, 5–10 µL per well, with no further preparation.
The thirteen fragments are 250, 500, 750, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000, 8,000 and 12,000 bp. The 1,500 bp and 4,000 bp indicator bands contain 100 ng per 5 µL and every other band contains 40 ng per 5 µL. The marker is ready to use and needs no added loading buffer. A gel concentration of 1%–2% agarose is recommended.

Applications
- Sizing of DNA fragments in agarose gel electrophoresis
- Direct loading as a size reference alongside samples
Key Features
- Two optimized Loading Buffer dyes are added without blocking the brightness of DNA band fluorescence.
Storage & Handling
Stored at -20°C with a shelf life of two years.
Usage Notes
- Load 5 µL per run when the sample well is narrower than 5 mm; increase the volume for wider wells.
- Agarose purity strongly affects the clarity of DNA bands, so the best quality agarose should be used.
- The recommended gel concentration is 1%–2%.
- Higher agarose concentration improves separation of short DNA fragments, while lower concentration favours separation of long fragments.
